Jobs in May 2011

Temporary Jobs: this continues to offer slightly better prospects, particularly with some of our manufacturing clients who look for skilled workers. Some success with temporary to permanent part time office support positions. This may be an area that could grow over the coming year, particularly with smaller businesses that are growing at a steady rate and need support as they grow.

Permanent Jobs:  A little thinner on the ground this month, just a couple of permanent placements which were successfully filled by Beacon.

Unfortunately things are looking pretty quite again as we enter June.

We are currently working on the following vacancies on behalf of clients:

  • SAP Data Analyst; Havant
  • Membership Manager (sales); Worthing
  •  CNC turner with programming experience; Chichester
  •  Junior Test technician; Pulborough
  • Experienced PCB assembler; Lancing

Employment – increased confidence shown by UK employers

Posted on 25/05/11, filed under Fresh News | No Comments

Recent survey highlights welcome news of the increased confidence shown by UK employers

44% of employers plan to increase permanent staff headcount in the next quarter.

The report also reveals 52% are planning to hire new staff over the next 12 months, while 22% plan to add to their numbers of agency workers in the next quarter, with the same percentage planning an increase over the next 12 months.

Meanwhile the proportion of employers applying headcount freezes continued to fall in April, declining to 20%, down from 43% in late 2010.

Roger Tweedy, the REC’s director of research, says: “This is the first real confirmation that employers are feeling more confident and are taking a long–term strategic view of their workforce planning. Creating more permanent jobs and the lifting of headcount freezes are solid indicators of this increasing confidence. This is encouraging news at what remains a difficult and volatile time for the UK jobs market.

“The survey also confirms the emergence of a two tier jobs market with 60 per cent of public sector employers predicting a significant impact on their workforces as cuts begin to bite. The unexpected surge in business confidence gives hope that private sector employers can absorb further public sector job losses.”

Jobs in April 2011

Temporary Jobs: We have successfully placed 6 temporary staff with clients in office support, engineering and manufacturing. There have also been a few temporary workers who, from May, will be permanent employees with our clients.

Permanent Jobs:  Another couple of permanent placements completed in April for start dates in May within sales and manufacturing.

Overall fairly quiet and the shorter working weeks have impacted on businesses.
